Beautiful you, beautiful hair
At the World Hair Institute, we have hair solutions for people of all races and ethnicities
People of all races suffer from thinning hair. Generally speaking, about one in four women suffers from thinning or severe hair loss.
However, hair loss is even more common in African-American women. There are a couple of reasons why. First, the structure of African-American hair differs from Caucasian hair. In addition, frequent chemical processing such as relaxers and methods like cornrows, braiding, weaves, and similar techniques have an impact on breakage. These methods can cause thinning and even more severe hair loss such as traction Alopecia.
In individuals of Asian descent, we see a lower incidence of male and female pattern baldness than we do in Caucasians. However, this genetic condition remains the leading cause of hair loss among all racial groups. In fact, recent studies show that the prevalence of male and female pattern baldness among Asians is increasing for unknown reasons. The impact of a more westernized diet or socioeconomic environment could be part of the problem. In essence, across the board, hair loss is still largely caused by male and female pattern baldness.
